Request not getting acknwoldged by VRA to Servicenow My Requests

$

Hi All

We are trying in an integration with VRA and servicenow using ITSM plugin 2.0. We integrated and followed all the steps and successfully able to see catalog items of VRA in ServiceNow Vrealize-AutomationCatalog. After ordering any item(Virtual machine) from the catalog and finishing all the approval process, it is able to deploy virtual machine as well. But after completion request in VRA, servicenow requests are not getting updated and they are still in Open stage.

Can anyone overcome with same problem??

How do I stop/block/fail a VM provisioning from entering BuildingMachine event (while developing/testing)

We are using XaaS to request a VM blueprint to be built, with all our parameters and VM specs etc. So far we've worked mostly in vRA/vRO to build the surrounding mechanism, configuration elements, vRA Catalog Items etc, but not really sent the request to build machine. We are now starting to do so to start coding the IPAM/DNS/AD/CMDB/++ integrations and see what happens etc when a VM gets provisioned. For this we want to use the Event Subscriptions. So far so good..

Problem is we want to block/stop/fail the VM provisioning  before it hits the VMPSMasterWorkflow32.BuildingMachine event so it won't actually start to clone our template. This takes some time, and with lots of code testing and request firing off it would be bad to just let the machine get built when there are no IP addresses etc to give to the VM.

So does anyone know how to stop/kill/dispose/fail the provisioning process right before BuildingMachine?

We intend to do most of the 3rd party integration in VMPSMasterWorkflow32.Requested and .VMPSMasterWorkflow32.WaitingToBuild states, which is the states before .MPSMasterWorkflow32.BuildingMachine.

What is the difference between "External" VRO and DEM Orchestrator ?

Is "Embed" vRO and DEM Orchestrator are same ?

How to script out adding ISO as CDROM to collection of VMs.

I am very green with vRA and vRO.  This is going to be the beginning stage of my first project in learning these technologies.  The goal is simple.  The steps, are not so much for me.

1.)  I have a collection of Vms that I would like to attach an ISO to (ISO will be explained further on).  I would lkek to have these VMs noted possibly in a text file.  I am assuming I could use a For Each (VM in txt) and loop thru each VM,

2.)I have a batch of ISO's in a datastore (on my vSAN).  The ISO filename will always be constant (for instance file.iso).  They would be located in (again, for instance) vSAN/ISO/Jan/;  /vSAN/ISO/Feb/; /vSAN/ISO/Mar/  When the workflow is launched, I would like the user to be prompted for the month.  User types in Jan and the iso vSAN/ISO/Jan/file.iso is attached to list of VMs from step one.

Again, I am very green, and would really appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Event subscription using data/blueprint name contains seems to not work

Just curious if anyone can verify a subscription filtering on data/blueprint name containing some text works for them.  I can only seem to get a filter to work when I use equals and I list out each blueprint name.  I have about 20 that start with the same string that I don't really want to have to enter in manually.

Hi  all, we are going through the training on the vRealize but i need to get a quote out to a client and need to verify the licensing of the solution. does the Vrealize product have to installed on all the servers in the environment or can it be selected as to which one to add the license to.

thanks.

Interesting Problem - Provisioning EC2 machines using XAAS in VRO

$

Hi All,

We're using XAAS to provision EC2 machines in AWS Cloud. The machine is getting provisioned corrected but we're not able to register this machine in to VRA catalog because the type of machine is returned back as EC2Instance. However, VMWare expects the instance type should be VCAC.

We're unable to find a method to convert EC2Instance to VCAC? Is there a way to do that?

On-Demand Two armed load balancer in vRA

$

Hi all,

We are using vRA and we are starting to design some simple blueprint with only one load balancer and some Apache web server running on port 8080. ( see screenshot for details )

We are trying to use an On-Demand two-armed load balancer in the blueprint to have the load balancer connected to one VIP network and to one Web network. ( the Apache Web pool network )

This design is executing properly but we want to customize and change the default Gateway for the Apache web server to point to the load balancer NSX Web interface.

Currently the default Gateway for the Web server is provisionning by a network profile in vRA and it is an interface on the DLR router.

Do you know how to change the default Gateway on VM during the blueprint execution or with Software component ?

The goal is to get the ip address from the On-Demand  load balancer during blueprint execution and assign this Gateway to Web server.

Thanks for your help.

AWS VM provisioning Request FAILS

Same request in vRA and ServiceNow plugin AWS Blueprint FAILS on plugin request.

The following component requests failed: Amazon_Machine_1. Request failed: Machine HOSTNAME11: Failed Provisioning. Ensure that the AMI, Instance Type, and Availability Zone are correct. Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Appears to be some issue with the subnet being passed.  We check off Subnet in a VPC and the actual subnet on the Catalog Request (same as the vRA portal).

Hello,

We have problems with the installation of website component on Windows 2012R2. We are using the self signed certificate generated by VAMI wizard.

We installed the certificate in all stores, but we have a popup from VRealize Automation Center that tell us that "the certificate cannot be found in Trusted Root Certification Authorities, Trusted People, Personal, or intermediate. Import Certificate into the store. We did it, but the message is always the same.

Thank you.

Interesting Problem -> Listing AWS S3 buckets in VRA after provisioning in VRO - Stuck here

Hi All - My team is using VRA/VRO to create buckets in AWS S3 but using a Python host in between. this is done because the VRO AWS plugin currently doesn't support any S3 operations.

The bucket is getting provisioned in AWS, but we are facing an issue in that we aren't able to find a way to add S3 bucket to the VRA list of items so that when the use goes back to VRA they can see their list of buckets and then perhaps select S3 specific Day 2 operations.

Does anyone have insight on how we can do this?

How to add tenant level access control to Provisioned Custom Resource

Hi,

I'm working with vRA version 7.2 configured with embedded vRO. My vRA is provisioned with an external AD server. I'm facing issues when using Custom Resources as an input for my XaaS Blueprints. Below is a detailed problem statement. Kindly respond back if any further information is required.

Problem Statement:

I've an external system which requires login for performing any action. I want to integrate this system with vRA. I've defined vRO workflows for all the actions supported by this external system. I want to expose these actions in vRA. I also want to support of use case where different vRA Tenants will have different connection properties for the external system.

Approach Taken:

I've defined a Custom Resource representing the external system's connection information in vRA. I've added an XaaS Blueprint which provisions this Custom Resource. The Blueprint is published and added to a Service. This Service is entitled to users of given tenant. Every Tenant creates its own XaaS Blueprint and entitles it to it's own users.

I use this provisioned Custom Resource as an input for my other XaaS Blueprints. Essentially, I want to store connection details for the external system once using the Custom Resource and reuse it for all my other Blueprints.

Issue Faced:

When the Custom Resource is requested through the Catalog, it gets provisioned successfully adding an entry in Items tab. The items tab shows only those Custom Resources which are provisioned by users of given Tenant.

But when another Catalog Item is requested which uses this Custom Resource as an input, the select box lists the items of the Custom Resource provisioned by other tenants as well. I want to restrict this list only to items of Custom Resource provisioned by users of given Tenant.

I tried multiple approaches to restrict this list but couldn't find a solution for it.

Kindly ascertain if this is a right approach for given problem statement. If so, please suggest how to restrict the list.

vRA Tenant Logon Page Customization

Hi All,

I know this is probably a long shot, however figured it was worth asking.

We have a vRA7.3 deployment, and were curious if there is ANY way, (easy or hack and slash) to change the logon window.

We want to remove or edit the "Forgot Password" at the bottom of the logon window (see attached).

Ideally we would like to have a hyperlink in its place or anywhere else in the logon window, that directs users to an intranet site with instructions on how to access and use the solution.

I will reserve any criticism, as the product has many shining qualities that make up for its deficiencies.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm seeing lots of errors as above: Resource not found for the segment 'VirtualMachines'. or Resource not found for the segment 'VirtualMachineProperties'. in my system log.

Things seem to be working fine, so I'm not sure what they mean, can anyone shed some light?
