Hey all - there's no section for vRealize Business so I am assuming this is a safe place to post?

 

That said I am trying to setup some pricing for my vRealize Automation deployments based on reservation (which is based on business group right now).  I currently have a test group with several VMs deployed:

 

However, when I check into pricing policies in Business Management I see:

I have another lab running where I do see my VMs being handled by vRealize Automation policy (without having to configure anything):

 

 

 

Again, only getting that in this environment... go figure!  Any help is appreciated!

Hi,

 

I am testing vRA 7.2 as a replacement for vCloud Director for our lab test environment.

Once an environment has been published, deployed and changes have been made to the individual virtual machines in the deployed environment (i.e. - Oracle DB and client upgrades on servers within the deployed environment) is it possible to capture the updated environment to update, replace or add to the the original catalog contents.

If this is possible, where within vRealize would this type of activity be performed.

We just started to use vRealize Automation 7.3.

Follow the VMware official document to prepare Windows template.

Today I tried to install Windows 2016 and Windows 2012.

I used  below command to install in Windows 2016.

• PowerShell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command prepare_vra_template.ps1

 

I used belwo command to install in Windows 2012.

install.bat password=Password managerServiceHost=manager_service_machine.mycompany.com managerServicePort=443 httpsMode=true cloudProvider=vsphere

 

All the installation is successful.

 

But I find one problem.

We used vRealize Automation 7.0.1 in the past. The install script will crate "darwin" account into OS.

But the script in vRA7.3 doesn't create "darwin" account.

 

But the official document asks the use to check it. 

 

Any suggestion?

I am using CloudClient 3.2 and am looking for an option to get the IP address of a VM created using the vra or other cloudclient commands. Any suggestions?

Hi!

 

I'm trying to connect vRA 7.3 to external REST API system to provision and manage objects in it through vRA.

 

I configured Dynamic Types "My Type"  (with dynamic types plugin v2) and saw all my external objects in vRO inventory (under Dynamic Types plugin). Next I configured XaaS "Custom Resource" == "My Type", vRA showed all "My Type" properties without any problem. So, on the next step I created XaaS blueprint, connected vRO workflow to deploy an object in external system (workflow output parameter = "My Type" object, workflow properly returns "My Type" object). In XaaS blueprint I selected "Provisioning Resource" == "My Type", it showed proper mapping to my workflow output parameter... Published blueprint, added to service, grant permission to users, bla-bla-bla  

 

So, now I have my XaaS blueprint in "Catalog" tab, I can even request it (and vRO would deploy object in external system!!!), but - I don't see any my objects in the "Items" tab... vRO could see them in its own inventory... Without objects in "Items" I can't do day-2 operations or anything else!

 

So, question is - why I don't see XaaS objects in my "Item" tab? Where do I need to look to find out what's wrong with all this stuff?

Hi

 

I have a custom action entitled to a blueprint that allows me to attach Oracle ASM Disk Sets. The action will attach a set of ASM disks to the VM. Once this task is completed I need a way to hide this action so that it doesn't get requested again. Ideally I'd like another action to take its place called 'Detach ASM Disk Sets'.

 

 

What I can't figure out is how to create such a condition. I can't see anything in the conditions for the action that I could use.

 

Does anyone have any ideas or has done something similar?

Currently looking to confirm some behavior for vROPs when moving from one instance to another instance of vCenter and vROPs. Is it possible to create a point in time inventory/view of objects and associations (resource pools, datastores, clusters, etc.) along with the recorded data for each object. When transitioning to a new vCenter, with new hosts and new vROPs instance?

Hi!

 

Does anybody know how to change/edit "Deployment" description after provisioning? End-user can easy change/add VMs description after deployment (using "Reconfigure" task), but I don't see any options to edit Deployment description... I haven't been lucky with vRO/REST API, looks like no methods/functions exists to update already deployed object VCACCAFE:CatalogResource (I'll be happy to be wrong on it). Could not believe that so obvious function is missing in vRA.

Good afternoon all,

 

We are receiving the error below, when we are trying to sync new users from AD:

 

Certificate for <vra> doesn't match common name of the certificate subject: xxxxxxx

Error from log:

2016-06-10 19:27:21,597 ERROR (tomcat-http--16) [vsphere.local;05fdd4ec-c66d-4728-ab26-f6a23dbbe1d9;172.19.24.131] com.vmware.horizon.connector.management.utils.ConnectorCommunicationUtils - Unable to execute local REST API: Certificate for <vra> doesn't match common name of the certificate subject: x

xxxxxxxxxxxx

javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Certificate for <vra> doesn't match common name of the certificate subject: xxxxxxxxxx

 

This certificate for <vra>  is installed where?

 

Becase we installed a new certificate in vRA Appliance, issued to our domain (example: thiagosilva.company).

 

But appear that in some place, when the tool is trying to connect on AD, it is using the old certificate (issued to "vra").

 

Could you please help me?

What's everyone doing to integrate vRA, vRO and vSphere together for automating tasks that you would typically run in vCenter web client?  Do you integrate and run workflows in the web client?  Do you manage these in vRA and have catalog items / actions?  Just looking for what some others are doing.

Hi,

 

When moving from vCloud Director 5.56 (force to because support ends in two weeks) to vRealize Automation 7.3 is it possible for the two to share resources (Datastores, ESXi hosts) during the transition? I suppose this scenario would also require that vCloud Director Networking & Security coexist on the same networks with NSX.

 

I believe there is sufficient resources in the cluster to handle all of the above as long as vCD and vCD networking and security still functions correctly while vRA and NSX are being configured.

We’re looking to implement Tertiary DNS records through vRA provisioning.  Reviewing the available entries (and custom properties) for the Network Profiles, it appears that we’re limited to only Primary and Secondary DNS entries.  Is there an out-of-the-box way to implement Tertiary DNS entries for Linux & Windows provisioned systems?

 

Example of good custom properties:  VirtualMachine.NetworkN.PrimaryDns, VirtualMachine.NetworkN.SecondaryDns

Looking for:  VirtualMachine.NetworkN.TertiaryDns

 

Backup plan would be doing a vRO workflow, but looking to see if there is another way.

I just create a workflow, which can auto clone a VM from template, and you can choose to add a new disk to this VM while deploying.

 

Now I want to make it a little more auto, I want to format the disk before task complete.

 

init the disk and format it, in windows, format it to NTFS, in linux, format it to ext3 or xfs.

 

How can I make this happen ?

Hi

I am receiving the error message right after fresh Distributed installation. 

Once login to vRA appliance --> vRA settings--> Ceritificates tab

below error received.

 

"Error calling Open SSL tools"

 

Screen shot attached. Self signed certificate is generated. This error occurs before any configuration done.

 

Unable to find any solution in the forums. Pls help if anybody encountered such issues and resolved.

Basically what the title says. We've been trying to find documentation for how to create a new reservation in vRealize Automation with a Orchestrator workflow, but the documentation and examples one can find online seem to be woefully lacking. Anyone have any basic code/workflow examples to help out?

I am going to deploy vRA in our environment.

 

We already have EMC Networker tool to take backups of servers.

 

I want to know does EMC Networker plugin is available to integrate the tool with  vRA.

 

So adding server to backup can be automated using vRA.

Hello,

 

I completely understand that VRA is a configuration and automation tool. However one of the customers is looking to display output of one workflow in a tabular format.

The output can be something like (Employee Number, Employee Name).

 

After some research, I couldn't find any options that can display output. Looking for help through this forum.

 

1. Is it possible to list output in VRA? If possible, can you please share the steps of doing it.

2. On the similar note, I also tried to get the predefined default values at the time of input. I am retrieving the two arrays to list the two columns. Is there any option to consumed these list as default values in a tabular format.

 

Any suggestions or possibilities are very much appreciated.
