Forrester Total Economic Impact of VMware Automated Application Deployment
Forrester’s Total Economic Impact (TEI) study presents an independent objective view of the benefits of vRealize Automation compared to the processes that companies were using prior to deploying a VMware cloud automation solution. To complete this study, Forrester surveyed a number of VMware experts and actual companies who had deployed VMware vRealize Automation to accelerate their application delivery. What they discovered was that on average VMware vRealize Automation customers reduced application deployment times from 3-4 weeks to under one day. This improvement in service delivery times made their development teams 25% more productive allowing them to release new software functionality faster. vRealize Automation also helped them avoid additional hardware purchases by eliminating overprovisioning and cleaning up and reusing idle resources.
The economic model developed by Forrester does not include any business benefits related to competitive advantage and new business opportunity that resulted from delivering new functionality to market faster, because that is fairly subjective and difficult to quantify. However, using just the productivity improvements and hardware savings resulted in a 3-year ROI of 243% with a break-even of less than 6 months.
