While installing the vRealize IAAS component (version 6.2), I faced a problem with the installer stopping at about 80%. There is no clear error message, but the windows installer gui is suddenly shown, and there is a reference to error 1639, indicating wrong command line parameters. I found the problem and a workarround (and no relevant KB article), so this might be helpful for others:
What I found out is that this is caused by a complex service account password in Windows. The installer invokes several other installers in the background (Workflowmanager.msi in this case) with a lot of parameters attached to it. One of these parameters is the password you entered during setup.
If this password contains 'complex' characters like " or =, the installer will fail because msiexec wil not understand the parameters...
The workarround is easy: change the service account password.
Hope this can be fixed in a next version...
