vRA 7.4 - Adding a Datastore to an existing storage reservation

Hi folks,

I am working on an end-to-add new storage allocation.

I am using vRO worflows to achieve this.

Among all of the operations included, i need to add this new datastore to an existing reservation.

I have found only publications for resizing an existing storage reservation as detailed here:

I didn't understand how to properly work with the vCACCAFEReservation extensionData in order to include new datastores into the reservation.

 

I am also open to new suggestions if there is any other preferable way to implement it.

How to custimize logo in VRA 8.1 workspace one login page

I want to change the logo pics of Workspace one login page. I tried to do it from Identity manager -> Catalog -> setting -> user portal branding -> Welcome screen

Then upload PNG for it,but there was no effective configuration. Could anyone help? Thanks so much

Unable to connect to RHEL machine from vRO - vim.fault.InvalidGuestLogin

Hi Team,

 

We are using vRA 7.5, can someone please help with below scenario:

 

  1. There are two root accounts(Local and Centrify based) for RHEL connectivity.
  2. We could able to connect and execute the scripts on RHEL using local root account and were failing to use Domain service account.
  3. SSH via putty to RHEL machine using Domain service account is good.But fails to connect from vRO with error "vim.fault.InvalidGuestLogin"
  4. The path to connect SSH to RHEL machine for Domain service accounts or Centrify based accounts is:  /usr/share/centrifydc/sbin/sshd
  5. We are using to "copy file from vRO" workflow.

Is there a way we can change the default SSH connection path of RHEL to "/usr/share/centrifydc/sbin/sshd" in vRO workflows?

vRA Cloud ABX / vRO - What am i missing!?

Hi,

 

Currently using vRA Cloud with VMC as the compute layer....hoping someone has some nuggets of gold.

 

I'm using ABX actions for extensibility because (unless someone knows different) you can't use vRO with a VMC vCenter due to the lack of permission to register the authentication component.(I don't have an on-prem vCenter)

 

ABX is fine (although I am badly missing vRO constants to hold passwords etc), however i'm now trying to configure some day 2 catalogue items and it appears that when configuring custom forms within Service Broker, any field where an external data source is needed - these actions still only refer to vRO actions rather than including ABX actions. Does anyone know of a workaround / fix because right now I'm stuck with vRA being half functional because the two SaaS products cant interact properly!

How to manage all deployed machines

Hello.

 

 

I'm using vRA 7.6 for service.

I make a blueprint and provide it to the user, and the user only has 'user permission'. (deploy VM from blueprint, reconfigure deployed vm ... )

 

Is there any way to view and manage deployed VMs by users (business groups) I manage? (like the Managed machines tab)

 

For example, to change the value of a custom property for a deployed VM, I need to connect to that user account.

 

Please let me know how I can control a user-deployed VM!

Log Insight Datastore Monitoring

HI all.

 

I setup an alert in our Log Insight Servers to capture the critical alarm below

 

 

But I noticed in Log Insight it didn't capture the critical and only got the warning alarm but as per checking in the datastore events it had the critical alarm (changed from yellow to red). See below

 

 

 

Do you guys have any idea what happened here? why didn't capture the critical alarm?

Cloudbase-init config for Win2k16 blueprint at VRA8

I have tried instructions at vmware link How to perform Windows guest customization  , However I don't see any impact in the newly deployed VM from the blueprint. None of the the command has been applied. Has anyone used Cloudbase-init in your blueprints ?

vRealize Automation 8.1 Patch 2

Hi,

 

Has anyone had any luck deploying 8.1 Patch 2. We've had a number of cracks at getting this to function without success. The task gets to V.raVaWait4UpgradeExec and then never gets any further. The K8 pods are all still running throughout the process and nothing appears to get patched at all.

 

There are also 2 bundles available....

 

vrlcm-vra-8.1.0-8.1.0.9583.ovabundle

vrlcm-vra-8.1.0-8.1.0.9583.patch

 

Both appear the same and can be mapped in vRSLCM, although the ovabundle patch has a newer date. Not sure which we should be using, neither appear to do anything though!

It's possible to have 2 instance of vra/vro (7.3) connected on  the same vCenter (6.0u3)

There is no incompatibility ?

vRA 8.1 simple ubuntu vm blueprint no network configuration

Hello,

I'm new to vRA and I'm trying to deploy a simple Linux VM (ubuntu 18.04 or 20.04) but I have a problem with the network configuration.

The VM is deployed successfully but nic is always down with no IP address. I've tried using an existing NSX-T network or a simple vDS portgroup both with DHCP (tested with another VM and it works correctly).

Both templates have cloud-init installed but I've also tried with a template without clod-init installed but the results are the same.

 

Here is the blueprint's code:

About Dynamic Drop-Down List "Name" and "Value"

Hi,

 

I have two question about that.

 

First question ; I created two dynamic dropdown custom property called via external source ( With vRealize ORchestrator );

 

My vRO action code is ;

....

....

return ["Production,"Development"];

....

....

 

But, I want to write "Name" and "Values" different like picture below . Is that possible ?

 

return [{"name" : "Production", "value" : "PROD"}] --> this is not working...

 

My second question is ;

 

When I click the first dropdown, second drowdown values are coming but i want to first values set as default. Because i'll hide second dropdown and values should be set as default without user selection.

[vRA 7.5] - Launch data collection for a specific VC:VirtualMachine

Hello Team,

 

I try to find a solution to launch "Data Collection" for a specific VC:VirtualMachine.

 

We have created a custom day2 action to create a snapshot and after, e launch a data collection "Inventory" on the specific compute resource where VC:VirtualMachine is located.

This permit our customers to get their snapshot available for deletion after few minutes on vRA UI.

 

It's not very optimum for vRA infrastructure performance, so that we want to update information just for one specific VC:VirtualMachine.

 

Do you think it's possible ?

Hi,

 

I am tring to install VRA 8.0.1 Large Deployment in my LAB environment. I have tried doing that through the Life Cycle Manager by chosing "Cluster" and going through the steps.

Everything is configured well, DNS, NTP, IPs and NSX-V load balancer on the same VLAN and Subnet as all the Components.

 

I Get This error During the installation in /var/log/deploy.log:

I see in the Life Cycle Manager UI that it passes the stage: "VraVaSetLoadBalancer" and get stuck on "VraVaInitialize".

 

now when giving the 3 VAs their IP addresses it also require a VIP FQDN probably for the Load Balancer, so i put my LB FQDN and made sure to add an A recond and PTR on my DNS, all names in the environment are resolved, i checked.

 

Then after an hour or so that it retries on the Life Cycle Manager UI i can see that error LCMVRAVACONFIG590003 which allows me to retry and set somevalue to true and retry, then fails on the same thing.

I saw a similar post that said these two might help but it didn't.

Maybe the problem is with the LB?

I Have an NSX-V Egde one uplink and IP address and the on i put on the DNS server for the VRA's VIP FQDN, virtual server with HTTPS 443, and Pools of VA1,VA2,VA3 with no health check yet but they are enabled and memebers of the virtual server(LB) and the communication port is 443 and the monitor port 8008(even though monitoring is off).

 

 

what should i do?

I tried to do the same from 0 with the Easy installer (The only difference that the Easy installer lets you put IP address of the LB and VIP FQDN instead the LCM that lets you only FQDN) but same result.

 

and by the way do i manually install another 2 vIDM for the large Deployment?

VRA 8.1 - Input properties/tabs are lost when present VRO Workflow in Service Broker

Hi,

 

I created a simple XaaS VRO workflow with various inputs. In the Input form tab, I created multiple tabs, and set some properties to each input (such as visibility, regular expression, default value,...).

After saving the workflow, I imported it in Service broker, but all the properties was erased, and also tabs. All of the elements are shown as "Schema Elements" in the side bar, (General tab in presentation).

Also, If I add parameter in VRO workflow subsequently, is there a way to "Refresh form" in Service broker?  VRA Version 7.x has "refresh form" option, but I did not find it in 8.1 version.

 

Does someone maybe have an idea how to solve it, or is this a bug?

vRA8 and Leases

With the addition of lease policies in vRA8 is there no longer a way to set the lease at build time?  In our 7.x environment we had a dropdown to let users pick a lease time (30 day, 90 day, 1 year, etc.) and then we just set the hidden property"_leaseDays".  Curious if anyone is doing a user picked lease time and how they're going about it.  Thanks for any info,
