Hi team,

I'm currently working with vRealize Automation 7.3.1 and vRealize Orchestrator 7.3.1 for some time and I didn't find how to get an integer as default value form a form item.

Let's review my current path.

In vRO, there is currently no "integer" :

Instead, there is the type "number" that is working as "integer" should : until there, no question.

When you want to introduce some dynamic in vRA, you may use actions.

Here the goal is to get a default value for the lease time regarding the environment where a vm deployment occurs : only 1 day on the DEV environment while 0 (unlimited) once in production.

I created a very simple action to do this that is enough to our demonstration : it returns "1" typed as "number".

But when I try to bind it as the external value in the default value of my lease vRA item typed as integer, it fails, claiming that my action sends an "number" (that is true) while vRA expects an "integer" (that is correct regarding the type visible).

Let's note by side that vRA perfectly knows how to send its "integer" from a Xaas in the "number" input of a vRO workflow to conversion is definitely possible.

I'm open to suggestions, thanks for your help !

Hello All,

Having random issues with workflows failing, related to our powershell host via vRA event subscription orchestrator tasks that create MS DNS entries using dnscmd .

This issue happens consistently when launching 3 or more catalog item requests simultaneously in vRA.

We are using the Add DNS Record workflow from PSCoE (on solution exchange), after switching over from using run script in guest, which was overly complex for such a simple task, and also was experiencing the same issue as above.

Turned on vmtools logging, switched powershell hosts, the symptoms are consistent.

It looks like there are collisions/contention issues with the powershell script copy to the host before execution.

We tried adding random timers to the workflow, which only reduces the problem but doesn't eliminate them altogether.

Has anyone seen this kind of behavior before?

Any feedback or alternative methods would be welcomed and appreciated.

A) After the upgrade. When I tried to login to vRO using control center I noticed 3 below issues. It is inbuilt vRO

1) There is no "startup" option icon

2) There is no "Roll based access management" icon

3) There is no gear icon to logout from control center portal

B)  When I try to use vRO web based UI I am getting below error

Authentication provider was configured earlier properly. However, when I tried to reset via GUI or command line "/var/lib/vco/tools/configuration-cli/bin/vro-configure.sh reset-authentication" there is no effect.

In the VMware documentation an upgrade from 7.x to 7.4 has a step that literally just says "disable load balancer" with no additional info or links.  There's also some documentation in the 7.4 release notes that mentions no need to disable health checks for upgrades in a distributed  environment.  Very confused as to whether I need to do anything with the load balancers for this upgrade or just leave them and if so what exactly does "disable" them mean?  Remove health check, take out secondary nodes, etc.  Thanks for any info

          I am building a Form as below. which i have a custom validatoin for Host name. And also have a data binding for CPU/Mem/Disk. When user select different T-Shirt Size, my CPU/Mem/Disk should be updated accordingly(For example, when user select T-Shirt Size as Large, i will update CPU to 8, Mem to 16G and Disk to 800G). Also i enable my user to change the CPU count as well.

          My Problem is , if i don't have custom validation for hostname, then everything works fine. 

          But when i add custom Validate to Hostname. My user changes on CPU Count was overwrite.

           Here is the case.

           1. User input all the filed in the form.  2. User select Large as t-shirt size.  3. User change the Disk Size to 1100GB.  

            When user click on Submit, the Disk Size i get on vRO is still 800GB (my default).   

            So, My question is, is there a conflict?  Or this is a bug of vRA/vRO.  BTW, i am runing 7.3

I need to update some components (and patch) the linked clone blueprints in my vRA 7.2 infrastructure. I am unable to find a procedure in the documentation to do so... I might be that the documentation is "lacking"

Also, I would like to change the name of the blueprints to be used. Where I say blueprint I mean the system that serves as the base (with a snapshot) for the linked clones...

Other than creating new copies of the base system, can anyone suggest a methodology to do so?

Just about wrapped up with our 7.4 upgrade.  In the appliances I see two services that are not showing registered.  Can anyone give some insight into whether these are normally registered in 7.4 or not.  We're not using containers, so the first one makes sense that it's not registered.  The 2nd one I'm not so sure about.  Thanks for any info.

currently we are using "Determine approver from request" for our approval policy. So logged in user has an AD attribute "manager", and that manager will receive email with approval request. All works fine. But is it possible add on the request form a textbox where a user can enter email for the second approver? And the request email goes to that second approver who can approve it?

need your help with this issue:

We're building a Multi-Machine application and we need to run a certain workflow once the multi-machine is in the building state (or before the individual VMs are ready)

We also need the same thing for the disposing event (for cleaning up certain things that's related to the whole Deployment and not just a specific machine).

We can't find a way to use the event broker for a "Deployment" that contains multiple machines inside it, any help will be welcome!

In 7.3 I was using the code below and variations of it to give me a list of all resources tied to a request ID.  Since upgrading to 7.4 I'm getting the error below. It's almost like the return type isn't an array of vCACCAE:CatalogResource anymore even though the API explorer still shows that as the output.  Anyone run into this yet?

I'm using vra 7.3 and cloud client 4.4.

A couple of days ago I started getting this weird error message all of a sudden in my automation pipe I have using Cloud Client.

Flow:
1. I do a successful request of a blueprint/deployment through cloud client.

2. I get the requestId back from the successful request I made. I also verified the requestId in the GUI under Requests.

3. I then use

   CloudClient>vra deployment list --requestId <the id I got from above here>

4. But I then got

com.vmware.cloudclient.exception.CloudClientException: Failed to convert '<id from above>' to type Request for option 'requestId'
Error: Unable to find a Request by the name or id '<id from above>'.

5. The above message is the same as if I wrote a requestId that does not exist, but it did.

I started to dig deeper...

1. This Business Group has 5000+ requests (5197 something), I could verify this in the GUI

2. I then used the same command but instead of writing the requestId I pressed the Tab key, twice.

   CloudClient>vra deployment list --requestId

   Display all 5000 possibilites? (y or n)

3. Wait a minute... I have more than 5000 requests.

4. I compared and tested the following

   CloudClient>vra request list --pagesize 5000
   CloudClient>vra request list --pagesize 5200

But still only saw up to 5000 requests.

5. I tested to set default pagesize in cloudclient.config above 5000, to like 5200 but then I had to use --page 2 to see the request entries above 5000.

vra request list --page 1 (showed 5000 entrys)
vra request list --page 2 (showed 197 more)

---

So my conclusion is that:

1. Cloud Client "vra request list" can only show 5000 entries even when using --pagesize larger than 5000

CloudClient>vra request list --pagesize 5200 <-- only shows 5000 entries

2. I can see beyond 5000 if I use --page (even if I use default pagesize of 25 and then use like --page 206 or something)

CloudClient>vra request list --page X

3. The problem is that

CloudClient>vra deployment list --requestId <requestId here>

Can only see 5000 request entries, not more, the only respons is the "com.vmware.cloudclient.exception.CloudClientException..." if I enter entries that is above 5000.

If I choose a request entry that is above 5000 I get the error message, same as if the requestId does not exist.

If I choose a request entry that is 5000 or below I get a response as usual and its working as it should.

And how can I fix this?

1. How can I remove/delete old requests for a Business Group? Can I clear it some how? There is a "delete" button in the GUI but that only works for "Unsubmitted" requests.
   Is the only option to rebuild the Business Group or hack the database?
2. Is there some setting in Cloud Client that can be modified so vra deployment list --requestId can see beyond 5000 requests?
3. Any other ideas? or SR next :/

I tried to upgrade vRLI 4.5.0 to 4.6.1with vRSLCM. But myvmware discovery only shows version 4.6.0. I tried to upload the binaries manually but discovery of the files doesn't worked.

I created the folder /data/binaries/OVA and uploaded the files. When I click discover it always jump to "my vmware downloads" and tells me: "Only Product Binaries downloaded from My VMware will be discovered. Download by selecting My VMware tab."

Could somebody explain how this should work?

i will create more than one vm-snapshot with die vRA Portal. The first one ist no problem, but the second one fails with the following error: [Error code: 42100 ] - [Error Msg: Infrastructure service provider error: The action is invalid for the machine.]

Does anyone know the reason? Is really only a snapshot possible?
