Snapshotting vCloud Director component machines

I'm evaluating vCAC 5.2 but haven't deployed it yet.  In th the vCAC 5.2 Multi-Machine Guide it says that snapshotting of vCloud Director vApps is a known limitation but doesn't really state if snapshotting of component machines is possible. 

Can you snapshot a component machine of a vCloud Director vApp out of the box or do you need to write a custom workflow in vCO?
