I’m having some trouble validating this NLB health check configuration. The URLs used in our configuration is the guidance from VMware and listed below. These URLs are supposedly responsive to the load balancer if the server role is healthy. I’d like to validate the accuracy of this.
The vCloud Automation Center URL is supposedly pointed to the node landing page from the load balancer to determine health. I’ve had many experiences where the landing page does respond but the tenant isn’t functional due to a malfunctioned Tomcat webapp component. I suspect there’s a better URL available that responds to an XML page to allow deeper insight into the health of CAFE services.
Both URLs for the IaaS Web and IaaS Manager server roles respond to an IIS authentication page. Are pages requiring authentication ever used to determine server application health? Is there a better URL to check for application health regarding these two server roles?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
