How to bind the ip address of second network card of machine component?

I have designed a blueprint which including a vsphere machine component and a software component on machine component. The machine component have two network cards, and now I want to refer to the ip address of second network card in software component, so I define a string property in software component and want to bind it.

Now machine component ID: vsphere_machine and one property of software component is ipaddress2. In design canvas I bind ipaddress2 with "vsphere_machine~nics[1]", but it doesn't work.

I am not sure how to bind ip address of second card of machine component?

[vRLCM 1.2] Proxy settings or Offline Updates

We have just setup vRLCM 1.2 and are having a real PITA getting My VMware downloads to work behind a proxy.

It can communicate with the downloads site, but the downloads fail.

and of course, we can download via a browser behind the proxy.

 

We did already try this post, without success.

Problem with vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager proxy settings

 

Is there a way to manually update vRLCM with the updated product binaries we pull down ourselves, then upload to the appliance?

 

Would be nice to see the steps for this, as we have other deployments on isolated networks that we would also like to use vRLCM on.

Azure integration error in vRA 7.3

Hi Guys ,

 

When I am trying to integrate vRA 7.3 with Azure, I am getting the below error. Could you please help me on this.

 

Note: I am using my integrated vRO in my infrastructure and Azure plugin is enabled.

 

'InternalError: com.vmware.o11n.plugins.configurator.util.CertificateException: management.azure.com: Name or service not known (Workflow:Import a certificate from URL with certificate alias / Validate (item1)#5)'

Does VRA 7.4 support using VM Templates in Content Libraries. My understanding is that the function is not supported in earlier versions.

vRA Blueprint Catalog item details tab | description customization?

Hello again...

 

Has anyone played with updating the description field, or adding custom field for a Deployment item (Item Details | Details tab) in vRA?

Users can add their own description information in the baked in field during the catalog request time (most of the time they don't ), and since this is the first page a user sees when selecting one of their deployment items in vRA, we figured it would be a good place to add more useful information on the deployment.

 

For example, a Linux appliance with web services, and inserting a url to connect to that service.

It's always a challenge giving users information relevant to their deployments and having it stick, and emails are not the answer to everything.

 

 

Looking for any ideas, so putting this out there.

I created an action which returns list of strings

I created a xaas blueprint with a drop-down field which runs the created action.

 

Is it possible somehow, to let the user to write by himself a new string, if it is not  exist in the list?

sizing vra core components - sockets per core.

I saw some reference architectures that shows the vcpu/mem requirements, but I would like to see if someone saw some specification that shows the ratio between vcu and sockets. I mean for example if I am using the medium size related to vRA reference architecture how many vcpu/sockets I will need to configure for each IaaS servers.

Service Now - vRA Plugin issue

Hi folks, I am working at client site where Service Now consultant is having issues with the tokens. Following is the email from him can some one help?

 

"I am trying to replicate the functionality that the vRA Plugin uses for User authentication.

When a user logs into ServiceNow, there is some functionality in the plugin that automatically requests tokens specific for the logged in User.

 

First, a client-side redirect sends the User to this URL: https://tuvra.transurban.com.au/SAAS/t/vsphere.local/auth/oauth2/authorize?response_type=code&client_id=tu-vra-snc&redirect_uri=https://transurbandev.service-now.com/vra_vidm_landpage.do

 

It returns a code that looks like this: EkbrUZ6JHWm27XHXaYfOfOlzaIhiOdFJ

 

Then a server-side REST call is made to this endpoint: https://tuvra.transurban.com.au/SAAS/t/vsphere.local/API/1.0/oauth2/token?grant_type=authorization_code&code=EkbrUZ6JHWm27XHXaYfOfOlzaIhiOdFJ&redirect_uri=https://transurbandev.service-now.com/vra_vidm_landpage.do

 

This REST call should return an Access Token and a Refresh Token that are specific to the logged in User.

 

The response I keep getting is

{

"error": "invalid_grant",

"error_description": "Invalid verification code: EkbrUZ6JHWm27XHXaYfOfOlzaIhiOdFJ :Unable to get authorization code: code not found"

}

 

Can you see any reason why this keeps failing?"

Xaas with properties action

Hi,

 

I created an action which returns an array of properties (name,number).

Return type: array/properties

 

I want to create a xaas blueprint which has a field connected to another action which need to use this array of properties.

 

By the way, the action which creates the array of properties need to run once a user opens a request, because it uses the login name of the requester.

 

Is it possible? What is the best way to do it?

SSL Help for vRA - HA/Distributed

Good evening all,

 

I am trying to secure my vRA 7.4 enterprise/distributed environment and I'm running into what seem to be basic SSL issues via VAMI.

 

When I go to generate the CSR in the VAMI wizard, i get the CSR info, pass it along to my CA vendor and get the crt file back. However when I go to import the crt strings into the fields it also wants a RSA key.. which i wasnt given.  do I have to log into the VA and find that file somewhere?

 

the 2nd SSL question concern is that i have a 5 site multi-SAN cert for this... if I have a common name of  vra.test.com as the public facing cert, but on the backend have 4+ VA's a NSX VIP, 3 IAAS servers and so on,, does each backend server get a SAN entry or just the common name? If so I'll have to buy more SAN SSL certs..

vRA 7.4 Custom Forms and external values

Hi,

I want to do the following:

Use the CPU field in a Custom Form and then give it a maximum that depends on a vRO value.

So I use an action in vRO that returns type Number and just does return 4; nothing fancy just testing at this stage....but the error throws me.

My Blueprint has for CPU values between 1 and 16 so I get where it comes from but that smells like a bug to me.

 

Anyone any Idea?

How to get vm expiry date in payload properties?

We have a situation where users (vm deployers) started filtering the vRA emails in which expiry date email also sometimes easily ignored and causing the false positive alerts. Seems we have to solve the users laziness as well . So, I was thinking of sending a report email to helpdesk (to follow further with user) about vm's which are going to expire in about a week.

 

I have checked Business Management reports, but find only vm expense reports mostly. Also, I don't find expiry date in payload properties which can be used in vRO workflow to send email report. Any ideas?

I am unable to find option to download vRA OVA/OVF to try as evaluation. Only option available is Try on Hands-on -Labs. Is it official not available to end users ! Any thoughts !

vRA 7.3 - Cannot see some vSphere Templates

I am trying to create some blueprint in vRA and i cannot see some of the templates. I already did a Data Collection and it works perfectly. Also i have 2 clusters and i already verified if the templates are in the correct one where the "Computer Resource" is created.

 

Any idea?

How to bind custom properties in XaaS component?

I design a vsphere machine and XaaS component blueprint and define some custom properties in property group which is added to vsphere machine's property, but  I want to bind these custom properties in XaaS component's property. Is it possible and how to implement that?

vRA 7.4 Custom Forms and Custom Properties

Hi all,

Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way ....

 

I created the standard Custom Property from vRO Action getApplicableReservationPolicies  (as described in the Custom Property Doc page 116....just the normal stuff that one uses since 7.0)

Now I thought I give the new CustomForms a go and I run into problems.

The Property is in the selction...thats fine...BUT it dosnt use the CustomProperty definition I created. If one drags the Field onto the camvas and then runs it...it stays empty and is a text field. So next I recreated the value by setting:

  • Appearance | Display type: DropDown
  • Values | Value options: External and then com.vmware.vra.reservations/getApplicableReservationPolicies

Running that end with an error:

Some data cannot be retrieved. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.;

[1][macOS_10.13.3~ReservationPolicyID.valueList][com.vmware.vra.reservations/getApplicableReservationPolicies] Error occurred executing action. Error: [Unable to start action 'com.vmware.vra.reservations/getApplicableReservationPolicies'. Reason 'Action 'getApplicableReservationPolicies' in module 'com.vmware.vra.reservations' failed : Supplied tenant 'null' is different from the token's tenant 'applebuild' (unnamed script#9)'.]

 

Which tells me that the context that was previously used to transport meta data between vRA and vRO isnt used anymore....

 

ANYHOW...donst work for me.

Get vCACCAFE Resource by Name Query

I've read through all the examples i could find on the forums and on blog sites but nothing seems to work. Not sure if its a bug or me doing something wrong...

 

I'm attempting to fix some scripts that were broken by the API paging in 7.2. I have something like:

 

Server.getAllReservations

for each reservation

if reservation.name == name

return reservation

 

With the paging that breaks so I'm trying to use the find methods with queries but cant get them to work in this instance. I'm trying something like:

 

vCACCAFEEntitiesFinder.findReservations(host, 'reservationName');

 

or

 

vCACCAFEEntitiesFinder.findReservations(host, "xpath:name='reservationName'");

 

but its throwing the error "java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException"

 

If i leave the query off i get an array of 25 of my 250+ reservations.

 

Any suggestions on the syntax of the query for finding the reservation by name?
