    Whenever we modify blueprints in vRA that already exist in the ServiceNow catalog’s and save them, then we re-run the catalogimport job in ServiceNow we don’t see any of the updates we’ve made to the blueprints from vRA in the ServiceNow catalog. Is their a reason the changes aren’t being pulled over, or is their a method to getting those changes to populate?

    Example: A ServiceNow catalog item already exists for AWS-BSP-2K12 and has all the fields it pulled during its original import. We make a change to the AWS-BSP-2K12 blueprint in vRA and save it. We then re-run the importcatalog items scheduled task in ServiceNow and none of the changes are relected in the catalog.

    We've discovered a workaround, but its fairly painful in the time that it takes to complete. By removing the CatalogImportLastRunTime key value, it and re-running the vRealize-Automation-ImportCatalogItems it pulls everything back into SN. We've been told that it should import changes to vRA without having to remove this value.

    Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    We have VRA & VRO 7.3 in our dev environment. All the VMs provisioned will be registered in SNOW CMDB automatically. One of the requirements is to update the CMDB whenever a reconfigure action is triggered. This CMDB can be queried only with CI name or IPaddress. I have tried to use the payload for the "reconfigure" action but it has very minimal information. There is no IP address or hostname in the payload. Would you guide me to get the VRO flows set to capture the VM properties after a successful r"reconfigure" action and process the required data?

    I'm using vSphere automation API 6.5 and I'm trying to get all consumed ressources by vms but i cannot get my hands on anything.

    I looked for resources pools but i don't have any request allowing me to get this kind of infos.

    With vm details i have all infos about their config but not the ressources used in real time.

    thanks.

    I'm trying to use cloud client to make reservation changes on roughly 260 vms.  Here is the command i'm using:

    vra machines change reservation --ids ccd231b9-a599-474c-9c2e-0267b7b50c48 --reservationName NOC22-WEB-APP-RESV-02 --storagePath VPLEX_NOC22_vRA_CL01

    I'm getting the following error:

    com.vmware.cloudclient.exception.CloudClientException: Failed to convert 'VPLEX_NOC22_vRA_CL01' to type StorageInputModel for option 'storagePath'

    Error: Unable to find a StorageInputModel by the name or id 'VPLEX_NOC22_vRA_CL01'.

    I've tried the command without the storagepath and it works fine.  I have tried several storage paths, even the one it currently is linked too, and i always get the same error.

    Anybody got any ideas?  Everything i have seen with errors on this is commands that do not include the storage path.

    I just finished my new installation of vRA 7.3 in my lab environment. I am having and issue while adding the vSphere Endpoint (vSphere 5.5) to the platform. This is the error:

    System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> DynamicOps.Common.Client.UntrustedCertificateException: Certificate is not trusted (RemoteCertificateChainErrors)

    Already followed the next KB VMware Knowledge Base importing the vCenter Server certificate to the Trusted root store of all the IAAS machines, including DEMs and Agent. But the error is still the same.

    Also the certificate that i am using in vSphere is self signed.

    By the way i also have connected to the same vSphere Platform a vCAC platform in version 6.2.

    Any ideas?

    Good morning:

    The goal of my exercise is to:

    1. Generate a random root password
    2. Set that password immediately after linux VM cloning

    To achieve this, I have tried creating a Software Component where the install [Bash] is set to something of the effect:

    echo "TEST123" | passwd --stdin root && passwd -e root

    return 0

    I have also tried to run this without the '&& passwd -e root' addition.

    The reason the password in that code is currently hard coded and not randomized is to just test whether or not I could perform this.

    However, I'm running into the error where the software runs into the issue of:

    nstallSoftwareWorkflow. Install software work item timeout.

    System.ApplicationException: Machine [VMNAME]: InstallSoftwareWorkflow. Install software work item timeout.

    Even though _debug_deployment is set to true, the machine is then destroyed after this error so I am having trouble figuring out the root cause. If anyone has any insight, it would be really welcome. Much appreciated!

    After upgrade to 7.3.1 from 7.3 getting 401 unauthorized access due to bad credentials on Infrastructure tab.  The IaaS service is of course not connected in the service list but all other services are up and running.  I tried logging into the vami, selecting vRA Settings, then under Host Settings clicked on Reinitiate trust.  It shows the certificates getting updated.  I swear we had a similar issue once before and we needed to manually recreate a solution user or something along those lines.  Anyone else hit this issue with 7.3.1?

    Hello everyone,

    I used to work with the basic functionalities from Vsphere, like deploying Virtual Machines, mounting NSF shares and stuff like that, nothing too fancy.

    Recently, I wanted to train myself on the other products from Vmware (NSX,vRA). I made a Vsphere lab for training purpose. I managed to understand more or less the NSX implementation and the whole concept of network virtualization and I started to work with VRA in order to deploy very basic 3 tier APP blueprints.

    I have succefully deployed my first very basic blueprint using network profile, Customization Specifications, software components and static IP.

    Here is my Design Canvas :

    2018-04-05 12_19_24-XSP-NSX-PC-MGMT - VMware Workstation.png

    As you see, in the network profile after deployment, 3 IP address  from the IP range have been allocated for the three VM. This is the expected behavior, I presume.

    2018-04-05 13_24_26-Photos.png

    I have tried to do the same using dynamic IP and 3 three subnets ( pre-existing NSX vxlan) as follow :

    2018-04-05 13_42_52-Photos.png

    I created 3 different network profiles for my 3 three subnets.

    Here is the network profile for DB subnet :

    2018-04-05 13_54_29-XSP-NSX-PC-MGMT - VMware Workstation.png

    I'm using a NSX edge gateway as DHCP server.

    After deployment, each VM gets an IP from the DHCP server but the three network profils does not show any allocated  IP.

    Did i miss something ?

    Thx for your help.

    Hi

    I would like to know if there is a way to get details of a Catalog item request status through VRA API.

    So i requested an object of Catalog item and it gets rejected, so when querying the Request with ID (through API), i can see the State = Rejected. But i would like to get more details of the reason why it was rejected.

    Through the interface, we can see it by clicking the status of the request

    Any help is highly appreciated?

  • 04/06/18--09:00: vRA Automation Email
  • I am just cutting my teeth on vRA.  I have been working in vRO for about 5 months.  I am moving into learning vRA.  I am familiary with the layout of vRA, but the working knowledge is what I am needing to learn and expand.  In wanting to learn how it works and how it calls and processes various functions, I am just wanting to look at various Workflows and Blueprints that we currently have.  For instance, we have a blueprint that deploys Windows server VMs.  When this blueprint is requested in teh Catalog, it sends out various emails at specific stages of completetion and then at the end.  Where in this blueprint are these emails called?  Maybe I would liek to change these emails.  Where would I look in the blueprint for these?

    Hello, how can you set the Vrm.DataCenter.Location (or any property for that matter) to a *single* value based off of user input on a Blueprint.

    What I would like to do is set the Vrm.DataCenter.Location based off of a location property set in a dropdown by the user and a hidden property set on the blueprint.

    My location dropdown has 2 values: North and South, the blueprint will have a statically set property which describes what type of server the blueprint is going to provision. This could be web, middle, db, etc. The combination of the location and the type will be used to set the Vrm.DataCenter.Location. So if the user has set the location to North on the type 'web' blueprint the Vrm.DataCenter.Location will be set to North-web. I would like this to be done transparently in the background (Vrm.DataCenter.Location should be hidden).

    I am able to set the Vrm.DataCenter.Location setting its type to a dropdown and binding the other two properties as inputs to the external source using a vRO action but this forces Vrm.DataCenter.Location to be a dropdown but I don't want this. For one Vrm.DataCenter.Location will always be a single value once a user selects North or South and secondly you can't set a default value on the dropdown when it is populated by an external vRO action which would force the user to have to select the single element in the dropdown!

    I know you can use xml value expressions but I would really, really like to use vRO.

    . Selecting MyVmware as a source location only presents 7.3.0 not 7.3.1. Manually downloading the 7.3.1 update iso and mapping the iso in the OVA mapping doesn't allow 7.3.1 to be selected.

    Can VLM be used to uprade to a minor version say 7.3.0 to 7.3.1 or only major versions 7.2.0 , 7.3.0, 7.4.0 etc..

    I am see the error below whenever I request a blueprint...

    Error processing workflow creation
    Cannot access a disposed object.
    Object name: 'WorkflowRuntime'.

    My requests just sit in a state of 'In Progress'. Has anyone seen this?

    There is a requirement for internal IT security team to better understand the communications that occurs between the ITSM Plugin 3.0 and other components, e.g. vRA.  Is there a resource document available that provides this information?  This is a necessary requirement for production use of the plugin in this environment.

    I need help with running vRO Action in a vRA form. My action seems to work when running to populate a list box on a form in a Resource Action, but cannot get the Action to populate a list box in a XaaS Blueprint. I am trying to use the following action:

    System.log("listVirtualMachineForOwner Action")

    var cafeHosts = Server.findAllForType("vCACCAFE:VCACHost");

    for each (cafeHostLookUp in cafeHosts)

    {

    if (cafeHostLookUp.name === "Testing")

    {

    cafeHost = cafeHostLookUp

    }

    }

    var service = cafeHost.createCatalogClient().getCatalogConsumerResourceService();

    var filter = new Array();

    filter[0] = vCACCAFEFilterParam.substringOf("owners/ref", vCACCAFEFilterParam.string(currentUser));

    var query = vCACCAFEOdataQuery.query().addFilter(filter);

    System.log("Query: " + query);

    var items = service.getResourcesList(new vCACCAFEPageOdataRequest(query));

    var serverNames = []

    for each (item in items)

    {

    if (item.resourceTypeRef.id === "Infrastructure.Virtual" && item.resourceTypeRef.label === "Virtual Machine")

    {

    serverNames.push(item.name)

    }

    }

    System.log("ServerNames: " + serverNames)

    return serverNames

    When I use the above code to populate a list box in a Resource Action (with currentUser populated by the Field Value - Principle ID) it returns all the servers owned by an ID.  When I try to use the exact same Action with an XaaS Blueprint, the list box does not populate. I can see the Action run in both cases and return values in both cases in LogInsight. Is there some difference in the setup between running an Action in a Resource Action and running an Action in an XaaS Blueprint? All this action does is populate the list box with serverNames so the user can choose what server to supply to the workflow. Am I missing something in the configuration in the XaaS blueprint?

    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    We use Component Profiles and VMware templates with OS pre-installed.

    If we choose the template directly in "Design canvas/Build Information/Clone from:"
    When you order a machine you se the template-disk at:

    Catalog/Request/vSphere Machine/Storage tab
    or the Storage tab in the design canvas.

    But when we use Component Profiles and Image, the disk is not shown as above, its hidden.

    This is problematic when you set rules that people can add an extra disk (Storage; Maximum value at Machine Resources in design canvas)
    and it shows that they have 0-XGB to play with but the OS-disk is hidden.
    People are trying to add max size but it then fails because the os-disk it not there and shown when requesting the deployment.

    After the server is deployed the os-disk is there if you choose "Reconfigure/Storage tab"

    Is this how it works, does anyone else see this behavior? or am I missing something...

    Hello,

    I'm trying to launch a workflow using php with this simple code (at this moment i'm just trying to list all function available)

    $wsdl = "https://vco_id:8281/vco/vmware-vmo-webcontrol/webservice?WSDL";

    $client = new SoapClient($wsdl);

    var_dump($client->__getFunctions());

    But i got this error in my apache error.log

    PHP Fatal error:  Uncaught SoapFault exception: [WSDL] SOAP-ERROR: Parsing WSDL: Couldn't load from 'https://vco_ip:8281/vco/vmware-vmo-webcontrol/webservice?WSDL' : failed to load external entity "https://vco_ip:8281/vco/vmware-vmo-webcontrol/webservice?WSDL"

    The request work for the web service Paypal "https://www.paypalobjects.com/wsdl/PayPalSvc.wsdl"

    So i suppose it come from a vco configuration.

    more over, i have already a script working using this soap uri but only work on a specific host.

    [System.Net.ServicePointManager]::ServerCertificateValidationCallback = {$true}

    $vcoWS = New-WebServiceProxy -Class VCO -Namespace VCO -Uri https://vco_ip:8281/vco/vmware-vmo-webcontrol/webservice?WSDL

    So my question is, is there a security setting in vco to block ip or something?

    Sorry for this post, i haven't configure VCO and the guy who did left.

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards.
