Error to install vCAC Database Using the Installer
Hi,
I finished the installation of all others pre-recs, but in the database installation I am getting this error message:
MSI (c) (1C:04) [14:38:53:053]: Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: VMware vCloud® Automation Center™. Product Version: 5.1.1.56. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: VMware, Inc.. Installation success or error status: 1603.
I kown that is a MSI error, but its empty

IIS Prerequisite component fails after enabling HttpActivation
As soon as I added the feature .NET Framework 3.5.1 Features > WCF Activation > HTTP Activation, the IIS Server prerequisite in the Prereq Checker would say that IIS is either not running or was running without any authentication providers. I went into IIS Manager and tried toggling the Negotiate and NTLM providers around but it didn't seem to help. That did resolve an issue once where I had to remove/add the providers for the Prereq Checker to pick them up.
I was able to get all prerequisites to show green by running the commands in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh169179(v=nav.70).aspx
- cd\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319
- aspnet_regiis.exe -iru
- iisreset
I admit I haven't read the guides as throroughly as I should have (just playing with the product) and don't know IIS at all so this may be obvious to some but I wanted to throw it out there in case anyone else runs into it.

DEM Worker & DEM Orchrestrator frequently offline and online
Hello,
I had done single server installation in which only DB server is seperate and rest all roles are installed on the single Server. I had installed DEM Worker and DEM orchrestrator in the same server as well.
While logging into the Self Service Portal, yellow color strips displays on top of the portal says DEM worker and DEM orchrestrator is not running.
I am not sure if this is the normal behaviour , or it is because i am still in progress of configuring it?

Manager service silent install
Where can I find full reference to msi parameters that the installers accept ?
i managed to reverse engineer several, but still missing parameters to use custom log file locations for DCAC,website and dem workers. Please assist if you know.

Issue Deploying Multi-VM vAPP in vcloud from vCAC
Hello,
Has anyone encountered issue with vCloud Director while provisioning Multi-VM vAPP using vCAC?
i am facing this issue while Provisioning Multi-VM vApp from vCAC, initially everything looks promising , but while in middle of provisioning error occurs at vCAC
after this error, the vapp is removed from the My Machine listing while vApp is still exists in vCloud director.
checking Log Viewer found below error entry
the Stack Trace is as below

it looks like to me this could be the issue of wait time for Workflow to Expire or terminate the Process.
Reson for this assumption is, If i Provision vApp with Single VM , it provision very smoothly and get PowerON as well.
Any thoughts!!!

Unable to enter vCAC licence file

I'm trying to enter the vCAC licence file (evaluation licence that I downloaded from vmware) in the installation proccess, and I get this error:
I have no other licence file, and I haven't made any changes to this file since downloading it.

Install fail with repoutil.exe problem
I fail many times on the exception of repoutil.exe.
I install db in one server and all other services in another. With success of precheck but fail with the exception of repoutil at almost the last step. From install log I found repoutil executing with db connection params. I also found some article said it might have relation with msdtc with firewall question. And I tried after turn off the windows firewall but still fail.
Anyone have meet same question and know how to resolve?

Manually starting a Workflow... (Discovery)
I'm trying to launch manually the LaunchEndpointDataCollection workflow in vCAC 5.1 (or at best modify the Workflow's interval), as having to wait 240 minutes for the vCAC to pickup the (vCenter/vSphere) Endpoint new Resources Pools & Templates is frustrating.
I've gone thru the Operations Guide, Install Guide and the Reference Architecture, and the most interesting paragraph is in the Reference Architecture on the last page
"Workflow Processing Scalability
Average workflow processing time (from the time that the workflow is ready to be preprocessed by the DEM Orchestrator to when it finishes executing) increases with the number of concurrent workflows. Workflow volume is a function of the amount of vCAC activity, including machine requests and some
data collection activities.
Performance Analysis and Tuning
You can use the Distributed Execution Status page to view the total number of workflows that are in progress or pending at any time, and you can use the Workflow History page to determine how long it takes to execute a given workflow.
If you find that there is a large number of pending workflows at any one time, or that workflows are taking longer to complete, the general solution is to add more DEM Worker instances that are available to pick up workflows. Each DEM Worker can process 15 concurrent workflows; beyond this limit, workflows /are queued for execution.
Additionally, you can adjust workflow schedules so as to minimize the number of workflows that are scheduled to be kicked off at the same time. For example, rather than scheduling all hourly workflows to execute at the top of the hour, you can stagger their execution so that they do not compete for DEM resources at once.
Some workflows, particularly certain custom workflows, can be very CPU-intensive. If the CPU load on the DEM Worker machines is high, consider increasing the processing power of the DEM machine or adding more DEM machines to your environment."

Installation error with model manager
Hi,
I'm trying to install vCac and everytime I try to do it, it ends up with this kind of error:
Property(C): MMDATA_ERROR_MSG = Model Manager Data already exists. Model Manager Data cannot be initialized more than once.
Property(C): MMDATA_EXISTS = 0
Property(C): INVALID_MMWEB_FQDN = 0
Property(C): INVALID_MMWEB_USER_ACCOUNT = 0
Property(C): MODEL_MANAGER_WEB_ERROR_MSG = The Model Manager Web Service is not installed/running on specified host or hostname is not valid.
All prereqs seems to be fine. I'm trying to install all components on one server. Database is on other server thou. It doesn't matter if I use FQDN or just localhost when it asks hostnames.. same error.

vCac database - privileges
We are using empty database created using create database.sql script, dbOwner rights are sufficient as per documentation.
We use SQL Azman store and for that docs say Sysadmin rights are required, although installation goes just fine.
any views on the current setup and repercussions.

I am looking for commandlines to force startup of workflows which are scheduled for later time and also to kill currently executing workflows.
Need this for development, testing and troubleshooting purposes. is cloudutil.exe the way to go ? any examples please, thank you.

LCM replacement besides Dynamic Ops
Just looking to see if anyone out there has looked into or used other provisioning/workflow suites besides Dynamic Ops. We currently have a rather mature workflow process that was designed on LCM, but with LCM being EOL for some time now we are looking to move off of LCM. Due to certain roadblocks we have not been able to get off of LCM and is preventing us from multiple company initiatives
While Dynamic Ops is probably the direction to go, I was curious if there was anyone out there who had migrated LCM to another product and if so was there any portability of the workflows that were created in LCM to another product.
We are looking for a smaller scale replacement of LCM wile we persue a larger more encompasing product to be able to provision on a much broader scale.
